In the heart of Vilnius, Lithuania, a new concert hall and cultural landmark celebrates echoes of the past and the present. The building is crafted from weathered limestone, marble, and travertine, and serves as a dialogue between materials and time, and how might the qualities of weathering effect the architectural experience. Materiality illustrates a narrative around endurance, erosion, and transformation, reflecting the cityʼs rich history while looking forward to its future. This project rethinks monolithic architecture, and is centered around architectural investigations using procedural modeling techniques in Houdini SideFX. The design, conceived as a synthesis of three autonomous forms, draws upon the concept of fragmentation and unity. These forms come together in a monolithic whole, creating a structure that is simultaneously singular and layered, rooted in the ancient but alive with contemporary energy.
